Hello to all.......

We arrived in Durand, Illinois yesterday (Friday) in the afternoon, after a drive with the RV through what seemed like a farmer's field -- thanks to the GPS.

The road through the farmer's field was two lanes with no lines and only wide enough for our rig. At one point we happened upon a one-lane bridge with no height measurements...we fit, but the travel was no fun.

The campground is nice...a wee bit in the country, but nice. Our site is also nice. Directly across from our campsite is the Sugar River! :)

We got set up and turned on the TV only to find out we were in a flood zone.
Being not too sure as to the county we were in or even the next town away, it was hard to follow the weatherman.

The night turned out to be very long. A Storm hit about 10:30ish and lasted until 5am. It rained very hard and the local news was reporting over 4,000 lightning strikes in a single 20 minute period. This kept up all night long. We were very worried about the river across the road flooding.

Thankfully the Sugar River so far has not crested...They had a lot of rain to our north so we are still watching it!

The Pecitonica River did flood and boy is it a mess all around us. You will see it in the pictures. So many roads closed and will be for some time to come as massive amounts of water try to flow southward!

I didn't want to post effected people's houses on the blog as we did see many half under water, but there was one floating down the river that I just had to post, so you could see just how bad it really is here.

One of the pictures is that of the local Fairgrounds. The fence surrounding it as well as their grandstanded racing arena is totally under water.

Enough said, We are safe....Thank God!

Stay tuned for more Blog......

Love to you all,

Penny & Bill
